Purges are a joke if you have at least 1 good thrall with epic heavy armor and a good 2h sword. The easiest good thrall to get is probably the cimmerian berserker in mounds of the dead (100% spawn). Voidforge is a solid choice, but I would mix and match pieces from various sets if I were you so that all 5 pieces provide the same bonus (which ever your thrall needs most, damage or health).
