As long as the fuel system is funtioning correctly, you can vary that by several degrees and you'll know by the rpm's at idle in gear when you have it right. You firstly have to make sure that your cable puls the throttle all the way back. If this does not happen you have to adjust your cables. To get the engine out of quick start disconnect the white/black wire and ground the white/black coming from the power pack. This will put the engine into normal operation. Throttle pickup timing (when the cam hits the roller) should be approximatly 4 deg ATDC. The bolt at the high speed end goes though a hole so that end cannot really be adjusted. Had an ignition issue at end of last year and I replaced stator, timer base, powerpack and voltage regulator. Now, at idle forward it hovers around 650rpms which is great most of the time. However occasionally it dips down to 600rpms and wants to stall. No lean sneeze or anything this is not a carb issue. All throttle plates are closed at idle.
