When I do change it all I do is pull the drain plug, clean it and reinstall it hand tight, open the chain adjuster cover, and pour in a full quart of Amsoil 10-40.The manual then says add 3.5 quarts of the oil of my choice which I did. Then check the oil level. It should come up to about 1/2 way between the add and full marks which it did.
